I live in Granger Township, Ohio, on our 20-acre tree farm with my husband Mike, six chickens, and our dog, Bear. Since I was very young, I’ve had a love affair with books (the various books randomly placed throughout our house attest to that.) My cross-country bike trip inspired me to write Hard Fun, my first authored book.

About me

The book was borne simply out of a desire to share our adventure and what we gained from it with the rest of the world. My education – an English degree from Miami University and a master’s degree from Case Western – together with my life experiences, helped prepare me for writing the book. Along with writing free-lance articles for local newspapers and the occasional obituary or eulogy, I have been a tree farmer, a gardener, a librarian, a teacher, a florist, and a business owner. All while raising four sons and enjoying six grandchildren.

When I'm not out cycling, hiking, or clearing brush, I’m usually out searching for antiques and other beautiful things to sell at the Walnut Creek Antique Mall in Walnut Creek, Ohio.

I am currently renovating an old house near Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The Park's towpath trail is where Mike and I reignited our passion for bike riding when we were in our fifties. Those initial six-mile rides to dinner eventually grew into 50-mile days on our cross-country journey. By now, Mike and I have traveled by bicycle in 18 countries on six continents. But the best part, always, is returning home to our sons, their wives, and the grandkids.
